"Time is Running Out..."

...actually it is about to expire
as far as the Illustration Friday deadline
for last week's drawing prompt:
It was proving to be a rather tricky topic for me...
until I took a good long look
at our beautiful and bountiful lemon tree.
it's fragrance this season has been heaven like.
But, what a curious thing I found!
The lemon tree was bursting with fruit,
covered with new white buds
decorated with graceful white blossoms
heavily draped in pollen,
deeply skirted below by petals and stamens and all kinds of
expired flower parts which have
fallen to the ground!
ALL at the same time!!!
The branch I drew above was attached
to a branch with ripe fruit!
on this one branch I drew there were
multiple stages of life...
from a brand new a fully blooming flower...
to an expired flower bits...
which disintegrated upon the slightest touch...
(Ah CHOO!)
to the start of a tiny new lemon
not much more than a quarter of an inch in size...
deep green in color...
waiting to grow and bloom
next season!
This little tree just doesn't want to give up!
Maybe we can all learn an important lesson from that...:)
Illustration Friday: "EXPIRE"

“Wisdom is perishable.
Unlike information or knowledge,
it cannot be stored in a computer or recorded in a book.
It expires
with each passing generation.”

A most thought provoking quote. Your take on expire is perfect. The lemon tree very pretty...

I agree with this: Wisdom is perishable! You do see it with each generation! Sadly. Oh, how sadly.

I love your words as much as the art. Beautiful lemon tree branch. The quote is perfect - each generation must pass on that wisdom!

What a lovely, and somewhat sad quote. As for your lemon tree branch, that's stunning. My parents live in Spain near orange groves - and when the trees are blooming, the scent is intoxicating and makes me high!!

Oh Margaret what a wonderful image to start my day with. I love your poetry of sorts and the description of all the wonderful life going on in that lemon tree. The drawing is great. Love it

What an incredible little lemon tree - must be unique to achieve the full seasonal roundup all at once. Lovely rich greens and a beautiful way to respond to the rather sad theme of Expire.
