First,
A Bit of an Artist's Note:
a late afternoon peek at our little prickly pear
after basking herself in a balmy 70 degree sunlit backyard Sunday...
the shadows now becoming longer and the air cooler
the shadows now becoming longer and the air cooler
as the sun begins to slip to the west beyond
the White Tank Mountains.
The faintest hint of a of breeze scents the air
with the fragrance of rosemary.
Strains of smooooth jazz on FM 95.5... KYOT...the "Coyote"...
serenade my brush as I paint...blissfully...
just knowing that a new season is upon us here in the desert.
And a second "view" of her...now at "midnight"...
still holding on to the golden warmth and memories of yesterday,
and
anxiously awaiting this first day of December...
and the promise of the season to come.
A Bit of an Artist's Note:
The background for this piece is a monoprint
which I made in a workshop using pure pigment
on coated coverstock.
I then used various Daniel Smith watercolors
in dabs
to apply the colors of the prickly pear.
This was tricky
as the wetter the wash was the more it bubbled and slid
right off the surface of the paper.
If you look closely you will see applying the paint in dabs of
purer color seemed to work best.
...Live and Learn...as "they" say! LOL :)
"How did it get so late so soon?
Its night before its afternoon.
December is here before its June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?"
