"My First Time..."

OOOOOH! MY!
Did I ever have fun with this!

Ro Bruhn in Melbourne, Australia
posted on her blog
a photograph of this lovely little teapot in her garden.
The instant I saw it I fell in love!
By the way, a trip to Ro's blog is a total delight...
lots of visual treasures and journalling "goodies"...
including
some awesome jewelry!
Anyway...
I requested and was granted permission from Ro
to paint my impression of her photograph.
This was a first for me.
I tried to be loose and free...quick, yet deliberate
(which explains the "wonkiness" of the lid and handle)
and complete the piece just for
the sheer joy of painting.

Thanks, again Ro! I had such great time today.

I can sure tell how much fun you had doing this. I stare at the details--I have never seen anyone use the tiny circles rather than hatching to shade the dark areas. Fascinating! Also, thanks for pointing to Ro--I have visited her site and love her jewelry, too. Isn't blogging an amazing thing?!

A lovely painting, Margaret!!! And wonky is good, you don't have to be too perfect and precise, after all, it's a painting not a photograph ;))

What a visual treat -- you might have stumbled on a whole new set of EDM challenges. :-)

Seems like the patterns you embed (like the circles) help the eye travel around the painting. I love your choice of colors. The whole thing seems very inviting -- your joy really came through.

Thanks for sharing this.

Excellent job Margaret. I like the deliberateness of the lid and handle. It makes the teapot the focal point which is what you said caught your eye. I can tell you had fun.
