Illustration Friday's Theme for January 2nd is
"Resolve"(noun)
"fixed purpose or intention; firm determination"
"Resolve"(noun)
"fixed purpose or intention; firm determination"
The template for the calendar was given to me
in 2006
at a sketchbook journaling workshop
by Grace Haverty...
a well known artist from Scottsdale, Arizona.
How TRUE!
Grace made a big impression on me as you can well see.
Ever since then
I have been determined to
draw, sketch, paint...
and now "post" as much as I possibly can.
WOOO WHEEE!
I think my results definitely show at least a wee bit of "resolve",
don't you! LOL :)

Every obstacle yields to stern resolve.
He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind."

Wow, what a nice visual of your art life in the past three years! This past year i drew much more than any year before but didn't chronicle it. I'm going to have to start. Love the template!

Beautiful idea, very inspiring indeed.
What an awesome calendar! You really made a huge flip to doing an artwork almost daily in 2008! I believe you may not miss one day in 2009!!!
THAT is impressive! What a great idea!!! (And look at September, October, November, and December -- girl, there isn't any white showing!)
These calendars sure do show your Resolve. It also gives people like me the Resolve to do more sketching. I love the quotes too. I am always amazed how you can find just the right quote to emphasize your point.
I lOvE the year-at-a-glance calendars and I love that you've coloured in more squares each year.
what a great post and wow, those three calendars must have been a lot of work!!
I like your calendars and the quote from Leonardo!

Margaret, I hope you don't mind, but I have made a calendar very similar to yours. I RESOLVE to color in all those spaces.
You and your art are certainly an inspiration for me.
Can I color in two squares since I was making the calendar on two different days? It certainly felt like PLAYING. :)
I love your artwork. And this calendar - what a great idea. I made one too. It's funny - the notion of coloring in squares makes me do stuff so I can. Who'd have thought it'd be that simple? My thanks to you and Grace!
Thanks for posting about this idea! I followed a link from the College Contessa to your blog and immediately fell in love with the idea of an art log calendar. I've made one to start using immediately, and have even been able to go back through the year-so-far and rescue a few days that I know I made art, so I already have squares colored in!
I'm one of those that will do something JUST so I can mark it off a list, or fill in a square, so I think this calendar is going to make a big difference in my art time!
Thanks again!
