"I can't work completely out of my imagination.
I must put my foot in a bit of truth; and then I can fly free."
~Andrew Wyeth

"It's a moment that I'm after,
a fleeting moment, but not a frozen moment."
~Andrew Wyeth

"I don't really have studios.
I wander around...around people's attics, out in fields, in cellars,
anyplace I find that invites me."
~Andrew Wyeth

"I'm a secretive bastard.
I would never let anybody watch me painting...
it would be like somebody watching you have sex -
painting is that personal to me."
~Andrew Wyeth

Oh my. I had not heard this. What a great artist he was. I saw his exhibits in Houston, Boston and again in Nashville. Isn't it wonderful what he has left behind?

The funny thing is as I was thinking what to do for Illustration Friday, an A.Wyeth type figure came to mind, pale and cloaked in black against a dark background. As I was "googling" images I came across his obit. Weird. I ended up doing something else.
I adore him. He's a genius and a master that I will always look up to.
Thank you for posting this tribute Margaret. He was amazing.

Thanks for posting this info. I really enjoy his work and was saddened to read that he is no longer with us (except maybe through his art!)

I read this on edm messages. His painting are so beautiful, I have always been a fan and have a catalogue from a show although I have not been lucky enough to see any of his work.
