"Knee(d) Surgery...?"

Yep! My mom had knee replacement surgery today
and my sketchbook went along to
record the day.
Here is a remarkable fact:
It took Scott and I 70 minutes to get from our house
in Surprise
to the hospital where mom's surgery was done
which is on the other side of the valley
in Scottsdale.
Now get this...
My mom's total surgical time was 55 minutes....
...15 minutes less than our travel time!!!
I find that unbelievable!
Anyway...
mom is doing well, even standing and walking a step
a mere 2 hours
after coming out of the recovery room.
We are blessed her day went well.
Even the weather smiled upon us
as we all spent most of our waiting time
out of doors
in the hospital courtyard.
Fragrant blossoms scented the air
hypnotizing us into
settling back and enjoying the Arizona sunshine...
Susan even "caught a few winks"!

"Language
is the means of getting an idea from my brain
into yours without surgery."

Dear Margaret,

Wow, that IS a fast surgery. I thought it took much longer. I wish your mom a very speedy recovery.

You really captured that endless waiting feeling...I'm glad you were able to go outside and enjoy the garden.

Best,
Kim

Glad it went well Margaret. That's so good that the weather was fine and you could go outside - it's so depressing waiting around forever inside hospitals. You can tell from the level of detail that you had quite a bit of time on your hands anyway! Love the portrait of your sister - nice shades! I hope the drawing of your mum's knee wasn't from life....!!

Hope she recovers quickly. I like the moods you always capture in your pages.

i got such a fright, thought you'd had to have surgery, whew....
i have heard that these surgeries have modernised so much that they are much 'easier' and 'simpler' get well fast mom.

I have had two friends that have had this surgery. They are thrilled with their results. I hope your Mom does as well or better. GET WELL MOM.

I love the way you organize your day on your page.

I flat out admire someone who takes their sketchbook with them where ever they go. After many years of being away from that I am working at getting back to it. It should be easy but I don't find it to be so. Good on you and blessing on your mom and her continued super speedy recovery.

I am so glad all went well!

What a GREAT sketch...so you travel with your paints? Or do the color later? If you take your paints with you, what set-up do you use?

That is good news that the surgery went that well. Traveling, on the other hand, is more painful when it is bogged down.

Great way to spend the waiting time.

Just bashed out a long message (which has disappeared) to wish mum well and to say I'm posting the MALTESER CAKE RECIPE any minute, so you can celebrate her op success with your mum. I had also suggested you would have been in that operating room sketching the event if you had arrived in time!!! Great skektch - love the chattering group.

I'm so glad that your mom is doing well. I've been needing to have my knees replaced for years, but I am just too chicken-and, now, too broke!
Very nice page of your day. I'm having trouble lately getting decent skin tones with watercolors. When I scan those paitnings, the skin is bright yellow, although it isn't that bad on the actual page. I used to get very good skin colors, and don't know why they are not working now.
Continued good luck and a speedy recovery to your mom. Some of my friends have had that done and they are out dancing and having a good time.

By what we see on the news every morning you are lucky to have made it in that amount of time.

Glad your mom is already up. Hope she goes home quickly and knowing the way the hospitals work, she will! My husband went home 3 days after quadruple bypass surgery.
