"One Last Homage..."

...to the jubilant color of the glorious Colorado aspen.

Did you know that...
~Aspen trees can be found in every Western state except Hawaii!
~Trees from any one aspen grove are genetically identical.
and because of this
aspens are claimed to be the world's largest
and
perhaps oldest living organism!
~Individual trees are short-lived, but the root stocks of some groves
may date back to the last ice age!

"Delicious autumn!
My very soul is wedded to it,
and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth
seeking the successive autumns."
~George Eliot

"The glittering golden aspen...
What a jewel in the autumnal wardrobe of Mother Nature!"
~Me :)

You blow me away, as always. Our son, Daniel, called them Tylenol Trees--he mis-heard--Aspirin/Aspen and somehow in his 4 yr old brain called 'em Tylenol Trees. We still do!
Very pretty!

Beautiful composition and delicious leaves

How in the world did you get that wonderful texture on the leaves? They look real enough to touch. I could stare at them all day.

It's awesome what you manage to do with your colors and compositions - this is glorious, like a celebration!

Amazing! The leaves are great - beautiful colors and wet-in-wet technique. But the amazing work that you do on the composition leaves me breathless! Are these all small sketchbook paintings? If not, I can't imagine how you are patient enough to make those circles! This from a quilter who still hand quilts everything with hundreds of thousands of teensy tiny stitches.

Can I wallpaper my walls with this drawing? Fall all year 'round. Maybe when I get that log home on 50 acres...

Margaret, this is beautiful...I loved learning about the aspens! Your blog is so nicely done and a great read early in the morning! We have frost in the fields today in Michigan....and my car needs scraping Ugh!
