"The Batik Effect..."

...an "experiment" using
a fine masking applicator and a wet color filled wash
on 140# CP watercolor paper.
Happy Cactus Monday!
Why not experiment with something artistic today!

The more experiments you make the better."

WOW!! I do this type of drawing with various resists and procion MX dyes on silk and cotton fabric, and you captured the look perfectly! What mask and applicator did you use?

Delightful experiment. Loved you sharing images of your dad in the war years. They were all such brave men.

This is an experiment that turned out very well. Great technique. What is the fint tip applicator and resist that you used? You've got us intrigued because it looks so great!

I empatically agree, experimentation is a good thing! The result of this one is stunning (and I love the quote.)

This is really beautiful. It would look wonderful on fabric too.

It's so nice to see a familiar word from home... "Batik" is a famous Malaysian traditional technique to produce designs on clothing. Tracing hot wax on outlines creating borders and using dyes to fill colors in sections of the motives. Still widely practiced in the North-Eastern states of the peninsular, very beautiful, very elegant. And that you did in excellence!

Batik is one of my favorite mediums. This is a wonderful way to get this effect. I did an experiment using wax on rice paper. I have been looking for it and can't find it. Will look again in my office soon. It has to be somewhere. Just Beautiful cactus. HCM Judy
