"Bigger is Better..."

...at least while sketching pomegranates...lead free..
from photo references...(cuz they are not in season)
in my Red Hand.Book journal, juggling it all on my lap,
(sketchbook, pen, reference sheets, granola bar, and a bottle of water)
as I waited for dad
during his cataract eye surgery on Wednesday...
I topped it all off with a splash of paint
Thursday afternoon at home.
Sketching bigger
was like a breath of fresh air...
a welcome format change from the 2.5" X 3.5" ATC cards
I have been making lately!
(Hmmm...but...wouldn't these make sweet ATCs after all???)
LOL :)

SO beautiful! And so full of joy--I love your style and technique always, but this is my favorite of all of your work that I've seen! I support wholeheartedly your decision to go bigger!

Great pages and good color as well as educational :) And a good use of time waiting. I see ATCs coming from these :)

you know, you could always start big and then cut it down to ATC size ... could have some pretty wild results. :)

the pom is pretty amazing.

You certainly could do ATC's! I found that I liked going down to the ATC size because it took all the pressure off me to create this big thing that I might mess up. If I mess up an ATC, big whoop. I toss it, not as much time invested. However, I like big too. they both have their place.

I really love the colors of the flowers, and the shadows on the leaves are just perfect! The cut-off drawings of the fruit is indeed very realistic! I really like this one!

Ooh, I do love to see your sketchbook pages!! The colour here is superb! I love the flowers - so pretty and I love the shapes and patterns of the seeds in pomegranates - they always look so tempting too eat, but I always find them disappointing!! Hope your Dad's surgery went well.
