"Sacre Coeur"... "Sagrado Corazon"...
or Sacred Heart...Milagros ATCs.
Milagros (also known as an ex-voto or dijes)
are religious folk charms that are traditionally used
for healing purposes and as votive offerings
in Mexico,
the southern United States,
other areas of Latin America,
as well as
parts of the Iberian peninsula.
They are frequently attached onto altars,
shrines, and sacred objects found in places of worship,
and they are often purchased in churches,
cathedrals or from street vendors.

I am particularly fascinated by the Sacred Heart milagros.
I have a very small collection of these beautiful charms
and they have been crying out for
my drawing attention.
Some that I will draw will be traditional...
others will be from my imagination...I hope you enjoy this
newest "heartventure" of mine.
At the present time none will be for trade.

Beautiful, Margaret, and a whole new world opened for me. I never knew about Milagros until today! =)
You always manage to create such REAL, three-dimensional works. And your writing is an art & inspiration in itself!

Thanks, too, for stopping by The Porch. Keep shining!
beeeeoootifoooool.
Oh wow...Margaret...I had not ever heard of or seen these before! This is so beautiful with it's 3-D qualities and I can't wait to see the rest of your collection and what comes from your head!!! Very cool!
This first one is a beauty. As a child I always liked to wear different medals that had different meanings. I went to school at a parochial school. We were encouraged to think of these medals as sources of strength and inspiration.
it's beautiful, margaret!
Stunning work, Peg. Looking forward to seeing more - and perhaps some for trading in the future? :)
like? nope ... LOVE this new series! I can't wait to see what else you create from the Milagros inspiration - the sacred heart is FANTASTIC.
I have always been attracted to milagros. TH=his one is beautiful, so I look forward to seeing more.
I love learning from you and admire your wonderful work---Being a 'heart' lover I think you are specia.....
They would make lovely tattoos...I'm saving this one
Stunning as always!
Could totally see this being done as a tattoo on someone's arm(I don't have any, and don't think I'll ever get one) but it's beautiful!
A lot of your lovely work reminds me of a shop in Carmel called "cactus cactus." They sell things from Guatemala~many things like the milagros and altars you speak of.A young couple owns it and travel to Guatemala a couple of times a year and pay the local artisans what they're worth. They do wonderful things to help the families of the artists.
This is beautiful Margaret!
Very cool.
I love when you share your inspirations!
This is sure to be another really original series! I'll look forward to seeing them.
