Simplistic Relaxing Fun...

in the mandala format of "Four Roses"...
and an "Opera Pink Floral" zendala.
I made these to use as examples
for a
"Whimsical Watercolor Mandala" Workshop
which I will be
teaching March 1, 2013...here in Arizona...
at my local art club.
These are NOT made coloring book style.
These are painted with watercolor first...then inked.
The final result is driven by the paint shapes
not the inked lines.
Pencil is used (in a compass) only to draw the original circle...
seriously...not a joke!
These were both
extremely relaxing and great fun to design.
Why not try one yourself?
My Muse giggles
just thinking about the possibility of making some more...:)

These look like fun and the quote goes well with your drawings.

Lovely mandalas - I prefer them this way ie paint first, then ink - you end up with something a lot more organic & fluid.

I like the quote, it reminds me of something I read by Ajhan Chah, where he said everyone should meditate for 15 minutes a day, except for those that don't have time - they should meditate for an hour!!

My brain does not accept the fact that doing these intricate designs is "relaxing"! Good grief.

Margaret i was looking over some of your lovely pictures again and i cannot decide....do you normally ink in the outline, then paint watercolor, THEN ink in all the details or do you just ink everything , tiny details and all and THEN water color over them?? I also see a plastic container with some markers? in it in some of your pictures.......what kind are they?? I hope you don't mind and you'll take a minute to let me know.....also my watercolors dry kind of chalky and rub off easily is because i'm using a cheap set?? Hugs! deb

I'd never thought of color first, then ink. Stunning! You know I'd attend that workshop if I were there :)

I'd attend your workshop too. These are very pretty and I love the idea of paint first, then ink.
