these 8+ inch diameter blossoms decorate our
front garden...
blooming on slender cactus arms they stretch 9 feet
into the star studded velvety desert sky.
The next day they vanish...
living on only in digital format patiently awaiting
an artistic transformation
into some watercolored brush strokes
by my ever present Muse.
Ahhh!

Ahhh! Is right! So glad you posted these, I'll be looking for them in my neighborhood! Always great to vist your blog! I'm trying the EDinMay posting and working on last years 100 dogs!

Thank you for sharing these beautiful photographs.
Wonderful! I have a friend who used to work at a college nursery and he took me one night to see the night blooms, it was memorable!
The ones in my neighbor hood are just blooming now and the last into the day! Must be a slightly different species, more enclosed center and has more spines as well.
It was thrilling to see this beauty again. Where we lived, it was called "The Queen of the Night". It bloomed in our garden with giantic flowers out of very thin arms, which I had to support all around. Splendorous!.
