"Midwest Travelin'...Pt.9"

...ROAD TRIP TO the state of WISCONSIN
and to the
Beautiful Geneva Lakes Area!

And relax...ahhhh...we most certainly did...
right there on the shore
sitting comfortably basking in the sun...and sketching!

It was a gorgeous day...
everyone in sight seeming to be enjoying
the last lingering bits of summer.
It was so refreshing to sit by a body of fresh blue water...
cool breezes on our faces...
a pleasant change indeed from our desert home!

We hiked a bit along the lake...mainly near Williams Bay,
then sauntered through the town and shops
of Lake Geneva herself.
We stopped for an informal bite to eat ...simply delicious...
and sat outside
watching all the people either casually strolling by
or
cruising the streets in their vintage cars.

It was a glorious day...we took lots of pictures...

Of beautiful vintage lamps... and homes... and shops...

...Staying until almost dark.
After stopping at the Yerkes Observatory on Williams Bay at sunset
for a quick peek at its fantastic architecture
we made the star lit journey back to Illinois.
It would be just a few quick short days remaining
before we would head back to Arizona.

Yes...I agree...road trips really do rock! LOL :)

Great travel sketches! I love your beautiful frames almost as much as your paintings!

We were in the Lake Geneva area that same weekend-Lake Lawn Resort, to be exact, for a wedding. It was beautiful, and I also got to take a peek at Williams Bay when we detoured through there to the resort. I didn't get any drawings, though. Thanks for sharing yours!

Welcome to Wisconsin! I live in the Northwoods about 80 miles northwest from Green Bay--but have been to the Lake Geneva area. Love the color in your sketches...absolutely delightful!

Wow, all these drawings are fabulous! I'm going to admire them and imagine I've had your day instead of mine, it'll cheer me up!

I see you sketched the mail boat we were on this summer, well, looks like it. You really captured the beauty of Lake Geneva! Isn't Wisconsin wonderful? :) but not as much as AZ.

marvellous views. i specially like the chair, i am a sucker for chairs...they seem so hard to draw and yet this one has come to life immediately.

Your sketches are so pleasant to look at. My favorite is the chair: the red and green mixing, the perfect rendering of the chair itself, the ink lettering and frame, everything about it is perfect.
Let's see more!

This series is just coming out great! Each entry is worth a good long look. I'm with Monette. The green chair is my favorite in this post. The very image of an Adirondak chair says r-e-l-a-x. Then the green with light and shadow make it fun. The text reinforces the mood. Ahhh.

Peg--your midwest "work" has such a lively whimsical feel to it. I can tell you were very inspired. And, there is something so inviting and exciting about your Adirondack chair---symbolic of a totally relaxing time! I love the whole summer series!
